Chapter prose
The bridge of the Soyokaze hummed with the usual mixture of anxiety and absurdity that had become its signature under Captain Justy Ueki Tylor. Today, however, a palpable tension hung in the recycled air as the warship drifted through a star-flecked sector on the uncertain edge of a Raalgon patrol. On the main screen, the regal flagship of the Raalgon Empire gleamed in the black, its cannons locked but silent. Every eye on the Soyokaze bridge flickered between Tylor and the threat on the display. Yuriko Star, ever vigilant and precise, stood at Tylor’s shoulder. "Captain, we’re in range. Orders?" Her voice was clipped, but a shadow of worry danced in her blue eyes. Tylor lounged in his chair, spinning a coin between his fingers. "Let’s see where fate takes us, Yuriko," he said with his familiar, maddening grin. Yamamoto, clipboard clutched like a life preserver, blanched. "Captain, this is not in accordance with regulations! We could be destroyed!" "Oh, come on, Yamamoto," Tylor said, "Sometimes you just have to trust the universe." He flicked the coin high. It spun, catching the light, the eyes of every crew member and the bridge camera tracking its arc. On the Raalgon bridge, Empress Azalyn Goza leaned forward, golden eyes narrowing. She watched the Soyokaze’s feed on a split screen. "What is he doing? Is this some kind of signal?" she muttered, curiosity piqued. Dom, her advisor, frowned. "Captain Tylor’s tactics defy all logic. We should be cautious." The coin landed on the back of Tylor’s hand. Heads. He grinned wider. "Set a course—right through the nebula. Looks lucky to me!" The crew gasped. The nebula was a known hotbed of electrical storms and navigational chaos. Yuriko blurted, "Captain, that's madness!" But Tylor was already issuing commands, his easy confidence somehow infectious. Harumi, gentle as ever, placed a soothing hand on Yuriko’s arm. "He has a way of making things work out." Meanwhile, on the Raalgon flagship, Azalyn’s lips curled into a half-smile. "He’s either a genius... or he’s truly irresponsible. Should we follow?" After a tense moment, she nodded. "Pursue them into the nebula. Let’s see what this ‘Captain’ does next." The Raalgon fleet surged after the Soyokaze, sensors straining through the swirling cosmic clouds. Inside the nebula, sparks danced across the hull, the Soyokaze lurching and groaning. Yamamoto scribbled frantic notes. Yuriko’s fingers flew over her console, every muscle taut. Yet somehow, through Tylor’s wild luck (and perhaps a hidden skill), the Soyokaze emerged from the storm with only superficial damage—while the Raalgon ships floundered, their sensors blinded by the storm’s interference. On the other side, Tylor stretched and yawned. "See? Nothing to it." Yuriko stared, a reluctant smile breaking her composure. "I can’t decide if you’re the luckiest man in the universe—or just the most dangerous." Tylor winked. "Why not both?" On the Raalgon bridge, Azalyn watched the Soyokaze slip away. She pressed her lips together, caught between frustration and fascination. "Next time, Captain Tylor... I’ll have the coin." The Soyokaze sailed on, trailing chaos and baffled enemies—fate, it seemed, still favoring the foolish.
Original idea

Luck and Fate path: Tylor bets the ship’s course on a coin flip that Azalyn’s fleet also sees. The chapter is comic and tense: incompetence as camouflage, with the Raalgon front deciding whether he is a genius or a disaster.
